About Brenda
Family and friends closest to me call me Esi. In Ghana, newly born babies are given special names depending on the day they are born. I was born on a Sunday and so my middle name is Esi.
I’m passionate about many things – basically, I am a Jack of many trades and a master of not a lot :). I am a DIY enthusiast and passionate about creating a peaceful home and pursuing a simple but elegant lifestyle. I am a huge foodie and love art and design in all forms. There are a few things in this world I am particularly excited and enthusiastic about. These include my children, my husband, and my extended family. On this short list is also food, music (not particularly loud headbanging music), gardening, drawing & painting, sewing my own clothes, afternoon tea, the Royal family, English cottage gardens, soccer (Manchester United, the Black Stars), riding bicycle with my children, watching movies and reading books of the same genre – thriller, drama, crime and documentary, mystery, who-dunnit, British Period drama, musicals – the Sound of Music being my number 1 favourite, having watched it enough times that I have memorized the words and songs from beginning to end. I also love soft small animals (I am definitely not a big fan or anything with big feathers, flapping wings and a beak).
I hail from Ghana in West Africa; I came to the United States in the year 2000 after relocating here from Crawley, England. I spend my weekdays at my full-time job, my evenings and weekends devoted to my family, supporting my husband living with the dreadful disease of Multiple Sclerosis (which has severely affected his mobility), cooking, creating, planting, squeezing in some leisure time and dreaming about places I would love to travel to if I could afford it. In between all this, I try to find the time for my new hobby (as if I was not busy enough) – blogging about my interests – my culture and heritage, food & drink, travel & adventure, gardening, arts and crafts, photography, music, movies, and books.
I love good feedback. So when you read, please do not hesitate to give me your unreserved constructive feedback, suggestions, or ideas.
